About us
Dentists without borders (Tandläkare Utan Gränser) (TLUG) is an independent and non-profit organization that since 2009 has been working to promote oral health in countries where dental care is neglected. Through both direct and long-term efforts, we work according to the motto that everyone has the right to healthy oral health. Twice a year, the organization sends out volunteer groups, consisting of dental professionals, to different countries. During the project, the volunteers offer free emergency and preventive dental care as well as oral health education. Since the mouth is part of the body, we naturally also work with general health. Dentists Without Borders' work is financed by sponsors, members and volunteers.

Supervised toothbrush project Tanzania 2019
Preventive program where students and teachers educate about the importance of tooth brushing. Each student receives a toothbrush that is left at school. Twice a day, students brush their teeth at school under the supervision of teachers. The dental status is registered at the start of the project and continuously during the follow-up

My name is Nikoo Bazsefidpay and I am the founder and chairman of the non-profit organization Tandläkare Utan Gränser (Dentists without borders) (TLUG). I am very happy that you have found our website and are interested in our organization. TLUG is a Swedish organization that was registered in March 2009. Since the beginning, we have worked with volunteer projects in countries where oral health is neglected. The work focuses primarily on education and preventive dental care and our motto is that everyone has the right to good oral health.
We on the TLUG board work on a voluntary basis, and our organization is run thanks to the support of our members and partners. We operate in several different countries, which you can read more about on the website.
I have personally worked as a volunteer on numerous occasions and encourage anyone who feels ready to join and create more smiles in the world.
